Responsibilities
•Provide preventative dental health education, preventative dental services, and perform a variety of administrative and clerical duties.
•Set up instruments and dental supplies, pass instruments to the Dentist during treatments, and assist the dental staff.
•Explain dental procedures, post-operative, and oral hygiene instructions.
•Prepare instruments for sterilization and ensure applicable equipment is functional
•Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
•Taking impressions, pouring and separating models and fabricating appliances such as whitening trays, sports guards.
About you
•Registered and/or certified as a Certified Dental Assistant with the BC College of Oral Health Professionals.
•Certified with The National Dental Assisting Examining Board of Canada (N.D.A.E.B).
•Current cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certificate.
•Knowledge of the current techniques and standards of preventive and restorative clinical practice.
•Ability to work within a team environment.
•Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, and children.
•Comfortable working independently with minimal direction, problem solve, take initiative, anticipate potential problems/conflicts, and take appropriate action.
•Deal tactfully and effectively with co-workers, and maintain patient confidentiality.
•Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
•Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
•While previous dental assisting experience is preferred, newer grads welcome to apply.
